Counselling & Psychotherapy in Bristol & Weston-super-Mare

My personal background and training

Before counselling, I worked as a teacher and tutor for young people with special educational needs and disabilities, and as a foster carer for young people with medical needs and disabilities. This has given me extensive experience of adapting to a wide range of needs, and an awareness of inclusion and accessibility.

With a desire to help make a difference for others, I began a counselling skills diploma, whilst also volunteering for Mindline, where I gained a deeper understanding of human distress. During this time, I embarked on specialist Bereavement training with Cruse, where I learnt specific theories relating to grief and loss.

I became fully qualified and BACP-registered after completing my master's degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of the West of England (UWE): a relational course based on Person-Centred, Gestalt, and Psychodynamic theories.

  1. During my degree, I worked as a counsellor within charitable services and completed a BACP-affiliated CYP (Children and Young People's) certificate. My experience of parenting and education systems means I am sensitive to challenges such as school refusal, sensory overwhelm and burnout. I also have specific professional and lived experience of hair-pulling (trichotillomania) and skin-picking (dermatillomania), both little-known but surprisingly common mental health conditions.

I have found the most rewarding parts of my career to be the relationships I have built along the way, and they are integral to my work as a counsellor. I warmly invite you to contact me or book an appointment if you feel I may be a good fit for you.

My commitment to clients

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and abide by their Ethical Framework. I am fully insured, hold an enhanced DBS, and attend regular continuing professional development.
